Buy or Bye: Soap & Glory

I'm starting a new series on my blog called 'Buy or Bye' where I'll be talking about specific products and whether or not they're worth the cost. I always find these helpful and hopefully you do too!

My first installment is themed around yummy smelling Soap & Glory products. Now before we start, I have to be upfront. If you live in the U.S. you may have a little trouble finding some of these products. I purchased a few while in England earlier this year, but I'll sprinkle in links either way :)

To read my post about why they were phased out of Sephora, what to expect next from the brand, and where to purchase their products, click here.

First up are the Off Your Face* cleansing cloths. These are nice as a refresher or light cleanse, but I can't say they do the best job at removing heavy makeup. The texture and pressure is what probably gets it off, not the formula. If you'd like to read more about my thoughts, I just posted an empties entry that features these wipes. Definitely not terrible, but also not something I'd go out of my way to purchase either. Overall there's something better out there so I'll have to say Bye.

Next is The Scrub of Your Life smoothing body scrub. Holy grail status for me! This is one of my favorite products from the line not only for it's exfoliating properties, but for it's smell. It features their original pink fragrance that's romantically fresh and clean.

My favorite way to use it is in the shower as a pre-treatment before shaving, though I must warn you and say that a little bit of this goes a long way. It's not a scrub that will melt into the skin like sugar scrubs tend to do. The scrubbing crystals really work as hard as you allow it to. It also makes a world of a difference before moisturizing or self-tanning, too. Definitely a Buy.

Peach Party Blush Brick* is a multicolored pressed compact of four different shades. Swirled together they make a beautifully pigmented, shimmering blush or blush topper. Each color on its own can be used as a highlight or eyeshadow which I've done many times and it's beautiful! Just be sure to wear an eye base for it to stick to and last longer. If you can get your hands on this, I say buy!

Foam Call Body Wash* is one of my personal faves from the line. It has an intoxicating fruity-fresh smell that, in my opinion, can cater to both genders. Their website says it's made with their signature Frutigo fragrance which consists of 'peppermint essential oils, grape seed EFAS, fruitliquid fig, and orange waterjuice.'

As for the formula, it's like nothing I've tried before. It has a thin, creamy consistency that feels a bit slippy. I honestly wasn't impressed at first pump because I'm so used to thicker products who are telling of their moisturizing properties, but once I added a bit of water to my loofah, that baby had hydrating suds for days! The best way I can describe it is a great smelling body conditioner with loads of lather.

Needless to say that this bottle lasted quite a while because of how little product I actually needed to use. I purchased the body wash from Sephora as they were pulling the line, but much to my displeasure it has not made the cut to be stocked on their American website or Ulta. I think I should write a letter lol! I'm so sad! This one's a buy for sure.

One Heck of a Blot Translucent Face Powder* is probably my most used makeup item that I purchased across the pond. If you like Rimmel's Stay Matte powder, this is a similar product that feels more luxurious, and let's face it…the packaging doesn't hurt. The powder's fine grain ultimately leads it to feel and wear better on the skin throughout the day, keeping excessive shine under control.

To my beauties with darker complexions: if you have a heavy hand when applying powder I'm not sure this would be the best option out there for you. However, I found that with a light application, the fair colored overcast melts into the skin relatively quickly. Be sure to test it out before purchasing it if you're beyond a medium skin tone. I'd buy this one again in a heartbeat.

The Greatest Scrub of All Face Polish is a holy grail product for sure. I'm currently about 3/4 of the way through and just as with their body wash, a little goes a long way.

The consistency is rich and has that same slippy feel once applied to skin which at first made me nervous since I have sensitive and acne prone skin, but I found it to be surprisingly soothing and hydrating. The peppermint smelling exfoliator has a fine grain texture containing what they call 'Super Smoothboost Spheres' to really polish off dead skin cells and impurities. Strong Buy suggestion.

The yellow-toned Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder * I find to be great to correct liquid/cream products that pull too pink on me. The powder itself isn't as finely milled as One Heck of a Blot so I don't recommend this guy to anyone with dry skin, or with deeper complexions. It's thicker, dryer texture takes longer to set into skin and can really cling to dry spots, but once it does, it definitely prolongs the wear of your base. Not sure that I'd purchase this again given the chance, so I'm going to have to say Bye.

Heel Genius Foot Cream is another holy grail product I've discovered from the line. I'm so excited to see that they've kept this product on American shelves because it's truly the best foot cream I've ever tired. The smell is quite floral and the formula features glycerin, menthol, nut oils, and fruit acids among other powerhouse ingredients.

My favorite way to use it is actually just as instructed: slather your clean pups generously and cover with socks overnight. Once you wake up, I swear they're like brand new. It's like a pedicure in a bottle when you're too busy to actually go in the salon or for touch ups between visits. Definite recommend! I say Buy.

Next up is the Clean on Me Shower Gel which smells exquisitely perfect. Again, it has their signature pink fragrance also found in The Righteous Butter. I love this scent! Layered together with the body butter, it lasts so much longer.

Like the Foam Call Body Wash, it leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean without any drying side affects. The difference between the two is in the way they lather. Clean on Me suds up, but in a much creamier way and with less foam action. Both are equally as moisturizing and surprisingly great to use when shaving. Buy!

Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub has a thick, paste-like consistency with sugary particles throughout. If you've ever made an at home banana face mask, it looks really similar to that at first glance. It also smells a lot like its other warm ingredients, brown sugar and honey, which I'm looking forward to using more in the colder months. Something really cool I noticed is that it emulsifies into a milky consistency when you add water, almost like almond milk. Bananas, sugar, honey, almond milk? It definitely was named appropriately! I'm a sucker for a good scrub, so I'm going with Buy, but WARNING: Do not use when hungry!

Is there really anything to say about The Righteous Butter that hasn't already been said? If you haven't given it a try, it's a definite must! The scent alone, which I've been going on and on about in this post, is enough to have me running back for more. Its easy to sink in moisturizing properties don't hurt either. Buy Buy Buy!

Like the goof I am, I totally forgot to add these next two travel sized products in the main image.

Lastly, is the Sugar Crush Hand Food hand cream that seems to not be in production anymore. I've never personally tried their original Hand Food, so I unfortunately can't say if it's the same consistency or formula. I also can't say that this specific product ranks highly in my experience with Soap & Glory products either. The actual lotion itself is fine, but the smell is a bit too sickly sweet for my sensitive nose and head. If you like the smell of sweet lemon frosting, the Sugar Crush line is definitely for you! Bye from me, but it could be a Buy for you. Give it a sniff next time you're around products with this scent.

And that's it! Putting this all together made me realize just how much I love this brand overall. If you have any questions about these products, please feel free to ask.

What are some of your favorite Soap & Glory products? Am I missing out on anything?

♥ xoxo
