A couple of weeks ago, Lulu The Face Company approached me asking if I wanted to try some of their products for review. I had never heard of them before, so I did some research beforehand to make sure it would be a good fit. Here's what I found.

Though there are several brands that release specialty products marketed with skin benefits, there are very few who build their line on the shoulders of honest quality and good-for-you ingredients. Here's some information alongside my experience with the 4 products I've received.

PRODUCT
Nail Polish in the shade Secret Love - Retail Price: $12
CLAIMS
First up is their
nail polish in the shade Secret Love wich is described as a taupey plum. The formula claims are that it's long-wearing, chip resistant, opaque, moisturizing, and free from harsh chemicals. You won't find any toluene, formaldehyde, or phthalates in this product making it a much safer alternative.
EXPERIENCE
I think the shade is fashionable, work appropriate and I love that it is free of harsh chemicals. The formula felt thin and I was worried that it would apply streaky, but I was pleasantly surprised when it covered my nails with near perfect opacity using only one coat. The long bristled brush made for a quick application and the thin formula dried faster than expected which is a huge plus! I definitely think that you'll need a base and top coat with this polish to have it apply evenly and keep it from chipping early on, but overall I've enjoyed using this nail polish very much.
EXPERIENCE
As soon as I removed the large and bristled wand from the tube, I could tell that the formula was thick and waxy. After applying, I experienced intense volume and length that created a lot of impact on both my upper and lower lashes. However, do be careful with your application techniques. I encountered some flaking when I applied the mascara in repeated coats using light brush strokes. When I applied it from root to tip wiggling the wand through the length, I didn't experience any flaking at all. The product held on to my lashes beautifully all day and I was able to add great length and volume.
This formula isn't going to be for everyone because of its heavy viscosity, but I do personally enjoy it as it dries quickly (which is crucial for weak lashes like mine). It performs as a dry formula that makes holding a curl in place all day a lot easier. If you have finicky lashes like mine, I do suggest applying a thin layer of waterproof topcoat mascara beforehand as a lash primer. This will help encourage a curl before locking it in with this mascara.
Nowhere on the website or packaging does it say that this mascara is waterproof, but I do find that it holds like one. The wax-based formula has a lot to do with this. I'd certainly encourage you to treat it as a waterproof mascara upon removal (I learned this the hard way). For best results, use a waterproof makeup remover on a cotton round, such as a micellar cleansing water, and hold it a few seconds over closed eyes before gently wiping away.

EXPERIENCE
Having oily skin means I need a lot of help sticking makeup to my face. This spray by no means is mattifying, but it is a quick fix when you're in a hurry both as a priming and setting spray. I love using it both ways! My liquid and powder products adhere to my skin much better, more evenly, and last longer when I use this product.
This setting spray would also be great for those with dry skin. While testing this product, I was suffering from severe seasonal allergies, causing a lot of dryness in areas of my face. When used along with appropriate moisturizers, this setting spray allowed my makeup to smooth over top any dry patches.
In comparison to products like MAC's Fix+ or Smashbox's Primer Water, this setting spray feels slightly thicker. I think this is key to create an adhering barrier between your skin and base products. It also works great to dampen brushes for pigments, glitters, and high impact shadows.
As for face firming and line reducing claims, I'd assume you'd have to use the product for a longer period of time to see results. I can say, however, that my makeup didn't settle into expression lines as quickly throughout the day.

EXPERIENCE
This is a must-have for lip product lovers! The shade is a sultry yet classy deep red that will compliment most skin tones. The formula is impeccably pigmented and comfortable to wear. It's far from a flat matte formula and closer to a satin matte once dried down. The slow drying process allows you more than enough working time to lay the product down and complete your look. The wide paddle doe foot applicator makes for easy, even, and precise application with a single serving. No need to dip back into the product!
This liquid lipstick offers a long-wearing time with a gradual (and flattering) fade throughout the day. I honestly was blown away by how comfortable and lightweight this formula is. By far one of my favorite lip products on the market.

I have to say that my experience with the products has surpassed my expectations and I can't wait to see what else they have up their sleeve. All of the products were great, but they truly have something uniquely special with their Liquid Matte Lipsticks. Don't pass these up!
