It's taken a hot minute to get this post up, but here we are! I wanted to make sure I thoroughly experienced the brand before writing this and I now feel ready to give you guys my top 5 Derma E Products. My goal is to always be transparent with you so please note that I have both received products for review from the brand as well as purchased with my own funds.

R E V I E W

 My first experience with the Derma E brand was at Ipsy's Generation Beauty event in LA back in Janurary. I had never heard of the brand which of course made me curious to check them out at the event. Their sweet staff were so inviting and relaxed in midst of all the chaos that it was hard not to walk away smiling. You could really tell that their team genuinely love what they do and believe in their products. They were kind, generous and very informative, but most of all, they were genuine.

In short, I left their booth with a good taste in my mouth that would later motivate me to actually try what would later be my skin's saving grace.


Semi-reluctantly because of my temperamental skin at the time, I decided to try some new skincare products which included a couple of full sized items Derma E had provided us at the event. Much to my surprise, my skin started to really calm down over time. My aggravated complexion–a revolving door of breakouts, inflammation, sensitivity and dullness–suddenly started to heal.

#5  Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask
This face mask, like most of their Purifying line, contains marine algae and activated charcoal. My favorite way to use it is as a spot treatment. I've tried it as an all over face mask on a few occasions, and prefer to use it in smaller targeted areas such as my T-Zone or active blemishes because it does dry my skin. However, I've found that as a spot treatment it works amazingggg! It really pulls impurities out and speeds up the purge & heal process.

#4  Overnight Peel
In theory, I would have a tie for the fourth spot between the Overnight Peel and the Microdermabrasion Scrub. I wanted to give you a variety of products to look into and I thought the Overnight Peel with Alpha Hydroxy Acids was a little more unexpected, but equally as loved.

Many people prefer chemical over physical exfoliators because of how they work on the skin over time. For me personally, I like a mix of both to really clean out my pores as well as treat my skin's condition and tone.

This facial peel comes in a clear liquid form that has some viscosity to it. After cleansing, your apply it to your face, avoiding the eye area and is to be used overnight as a resurfacing treatment that will improve the overall texture and tone of your skin. It's pH balanced and has an active ingredient of Glycolic Acid to really get in there and put some work in.

If you have sensitive skin, you may want to try a sample before purchasing as it does have a burning sensation that subsides within seconds. I didn't find it too bothersome, and I absolutely loved the results the next morning! I use it about 3 times a month and each time my skin is left healthy looking, glowing and with a more even texture. I think it's the perfect thing to give you an added boost for a special occasion or when you know you'll be in a hurry the next day and not have enough time to fuss around with face masks to rev up your skin.

#3  Purifying Youth Serum
I'm currently working on my second bottle of this serum and absolutely love the oomph it gives my skin. I notice my skin is more balanced and calm when I use this. You only need a very small pea-sized amount and it can be worn alone or under your favorite moisturizer to give it an extra boost of hydration.

The lightweight serum contains marine algae, green tea and aloe delivering hydrating antioxidant protection and nutrients to your skin. When I ran out of my first bottle, I thought I'd stop for a while to see how my skin reacted. I noticed my dehydrated/hormonal areas returned to an unbalanced state and that my skin wasn't absorbing/retaining moisture as well as when using this Purifying Youth Serum.

I've since started using it again and have noticed an improvement in my skin clarity and hydration after a couple of days. It's a definite staple in my skincare routine now and find that it's the product I go through the quickest. I do wish there were a little more in there, but the pump action is amazing at rationing out uses.

#2  Purifying Gel Cleanser
The next product I love is their Purifying Gel Cleanser. This comes in a close second place for its very gentle yet effective nature. Also with marine algae and activated charcoal, this gel cleanser effectively removes the day's impurities without over drying your skin. It has a gelatin like texture to it that is soothing upon application and very mildly tingles (almost unnoticeable tingle) as the suds work their magic. I'm able to achieve best results when used morning and evening and I like to leave this on for about 20-45 seconds, allowing it to penetrate my pores.

It leaves my skin clean, refreshed, and ready to absorb post cleansing skincare to its full potential.

#1  Purifying Daily Detox Scrub
The Purifying Daily Detox Scrub is my favorite product from their line because it's the one I first noticed was changing my complexion for the better. It has consistently given me noticeable results after each use every…single…time. My favorite way to use this is in the shower 2-3 times a week as an in shower mask before cleansing my face. Sounds weird, I know!

I'll dampen my skin, allowing my pores to open up with the shower's steam, then gently work the scrub onto my face and leave it on for 2-3 minutes. The scrubbing particles are a bit abrasive, so I'd advise you to not go in heavy handed. When used with minimal pressure, there won't be an issue.

While the scrub is working, you'll feel a mellow tingle and cooling sensation that is incredibly soothing and refreshing. I swear I feel and look like a new woman every time. I looooove this stuff!

F I N A L  T H O U G H T S

 I am truly so thankful for these products. They've changed my skin in a way that, at the time, I didn't think was possible. Now I'm not saying I have perfect skin now; there are still some lifestyle changes that contribute to my personal skin journey, but it has majorly improved. I find I break out much less and that if/when I do, they are significantly more manageable in their aggressiveness and sensitivity. I finally feel like my skin isn't angry at me or painful to touch and for that I'm a loyal Derma E supporter. They've gained my trust because of what they stand for and for creating products that work.

I know some may be put off by PR packages, but I give my 100% honest opinion regardless if products are sent to me and I firmly stand by that. Derma E kindly sent the products in the first image of this blog post and asked for NOTHING in return so I really took my sweet time getting to know everything and have since repurchased several products on my own.
