Hola, Beauty Babes! :)

In a recent Instagram post, I had some questions about Maybelline's The Blused Nudes palette. I've since addressed it on Snapchat, but thought I'd compile highlights of my review for ya just in case you're late to the game ;)

Can you say mixed feelings? I'll let my Snapchat videos further compliment what I say in my review, but here's the beauty breakdown:

It's definitely unique to the drugstore due to the palette's blush toned shades. I can't think of anything else at that price point from a physical drugstore that you can walk into that's available for purchase. That's a definite pro because how beautiful are these shades?! Also, I love the sleek rose gold packaging. Really easy to store and the cut out window on the front panel makes it super easy to view the shades in a hurry.

I mostly reach for this on days I need something quick, easy and light on the eyes mostly because they're thinner and not as pigmented in comparison to what I would consider a high quality shadow. Up against a drugstore heavy-hitter like Wet N Wild, the formula of these shadows are just about left in the dust. It's because of this that I sometimes put this palette to the side and reach for something different.

However, it is important to note that super pigmentation isn't always the answer depending on the eyeshadow look you're seeking to achieve. As you can probably tell, I go back and forth with loving this palette because of that. On days I need just a wash of pretty color with pops of shimmer and crease definition, this palette is great. Perfect for someone that needs something quick and easy, no fuss and at a great price point. Highly recommend this for anyone who is just starting out in makeup as well because it's safe to build color with without going too far too fast. Very beginner friendly and, in my opinion, geared toward those with lighter to medium skin tones.

My deeper complected beauties, there are some nice shadows for adding brightness or pops of shimmer, but the darker shadows may be too similar to really pull together a vast variety of eye looks. For reference, on my medium skin tone, some of the shades are difficult to detect as much as I would like. I more often than not find myself reaching for other shadows from my collection to help this palette out if I'm looking for a fully developed eye look that pops.

Lasting power of these shadows are highly dependent on your prep. In the videos below, I explain some of the things you absolutely need in order to get the most from this eye palette and have it work for you. You'll definitely want to use synthetic bristled eye brushes as they'll give you the most color payoff and deposit, save your natural brushes for situations where you need to wash out color and blend.

As a whole, I like to reach a final verdict by asking myself if I'd repurchase this product if it somehow magically disappeared or if I ran out. After using the palette for several months, my personal answer would be no. I definitely have what I would consider 'better options' in my collection of similar shades, but it's of course nice to try different things and really learn about my own personal preferences and for whom I think this palette could be perfect for.

As always, I hope this review has served helpful to get a better idea of what the palette looks like and what to expect from it. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I love hearing from you :)

Don't forget to check out my Snapchat vids! Frustrating that video uploads are at such a low resolution, but I thought it'd be fun to give a taste of what goes on over on Snap if nothing more.
